A Brief History of The Putnam County District Library Continental Location

In 1936 library service began in Continental as a library substation.  In 1955 it was moved to the city building where it remained until the Free Methodist Church was purchased by the Continental Community Library, Inc. in August of 2004.  The church was renovated and the Continental Library increased from 800 square feet to 3,300 square feet of space.  In addition to space for materials, the library also has a conference room.  The majority of the funding for the Continental Library comes from the operating budget of the Putnam County District Library.
