The Putnam County District Library subscribes to two genealogy databases, namely Heritage Quest & Ancestry Library.


Heritage Quest -


Heritage Quest holds over 250,000 titles including references books, periodicals, Periodical Source Index and census records.  To access this website from home you must hold a Putnam County District Library Card.  Follow these easy instructions to start searching:

         1.  Go to the library's homepage http://www.putnamco.lib.oh.us
         2.  Click on the "Research" button at the top of the page

         3.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the blue search button in
              the "Ohio Web Library" box

         4.  Click on "Resources" on the blue bar

         5.  Click on the Locally Purchased Databases tab
         6.  Enter "Putnam" in the box, then on "Putnam County District Library" under
              select your library
         7.  Click on "Heritage Quest"
         8.  Type in your library card number, no spaces or dashes, in the box
              and click on "Submit"
         9.  Select "Putnam County District Library" then click on "submit"
 

Ancestry Library - In-library use only

Ancestry Library Edition allows patrons access to the worldwide census, vital records, newspaper, immigration records, and military records, in addition to family and local histories.  Currently this database is only accessible at the Fort Jennings Branch Library.
