The Local History Collection is located at
The Fort Jennings Branch Library.**

The Putnam County District
Library holds a wealth of information for genealogical and local
history research. Our collection contains books, probate
records, family files and Putnam County newspapers.
The collection consists primarily of information on Putnam
County and the surrounding counties (Defiance, Hancock, Henry,
Paulding, Van Wert, and Wood). Additionally, we have a
variety of
information from many of Ohio's 88 counties.
Ruth Wilhelm, our local
history librarian is willing to conduct limited research through
email. Please see our
guidelines for requests
before you email.
One of our latest projects is the
creation of a picture collection of Putnam County.
Currently, we have
over 1000 pictures that are indexed and in photo albums
available for viewing in the Local History Room. If you
would like to
add copies of your pictures depicting Putnam County's past to
our collection, please contact
Ruth. We
are always interested in pictures of farming, industries,
building projects or anything related to Putnam County. We appreciate the public's support of this
important ongoing project.
The Local History Room is open
